Touch screen POS systems (also
called POS stations) vary from very simple
like a standard cash register with a separate credit card terminal, to more
elaborate like computerized touch screen POS systems with employee clock-in,
clock-out for payroll time sheets, inventory control to track stock location
receipts & issues, vendor management to place purchase orders, menu & recipe
costing to help with pricing, order entry & payment processing.
When you have 2 or more POS systems running on your network, a separate computer
(called a File Server) is recommended to
hold RPLUS
software's "shared" database (your restaurant's menu,
inventory & sales data), perform back office software
functions, run end-of-day closing, print reports, etc. To maximize
system performance, make sure the file server has a minimum of 4GB RAM. To maximize
security & backup, we recommend using a file server with RAID technology.
