Fast and Easy Credit Card
Processing
How RestaurantPlus Rel.5.0 credit card payment processing works
-
When
your customer is ready to pay their check the server or cashier takes customer credit card and swipes
it on a separate credit card terminal connected to an external telephone
line (use the same credit card terminal and merchant service provider you
currently have or obtain a credit card terminal from our merchant service
provider Pivotal Payments)..
-
Customer credit card information is
swiped by the server or cashier into the
credit card terminal and is
processed as follows:
-
Customer credit card issuing bank is contacted electronically by
telephone connection to
verify credit card information.
-
Customer credit card issuing bank verifies there are
sufficient funds available for the total amount of the check plus a
percentage allotment for gratuity.
-
Usually the funds are pre-authorized and captured at the same time, with
gratuities added later in. However, you can setup RestaurantPlus POS to
print Checks with a space for customer to enter a gratuity amount before
authorizing the credit card total payment there by save a step.
-
In a matter of seconds, the credit card terminal prints a Sales Draft
for your customer to sign.
-
After customer signs Sales Draft the
server or cashier finishes payment processing inside RestaurantPlus as follows:
-
Select customer check by pressing
Table button, CkOptions button or PayNow button.
-
Press Credit Card Type
button (VISA, MasterCard, etc.).
-
Use touch pad to enter Total Amount Paid then press Next (Gratuity is automatically
calculated & stored for reporting on end-of-day reports).
-
The order is closed.
Advantages of using
a separate credit card terminal
-
A stand-alone credit card
terminal can be located in a central location providing less
congestion than when sharing a POS station.
-
A stand-alone credit card
terminal can still be used if your computer system goes down for any reason
and you need to write hand checks (we suggest that you attach battery
backup hardware to your credit card processing terminal in case of
temporary power outage caused by lightning, etc.)
We recommend using "Pivotal Payments" for your merchant services and
stand-alone credit card terminal
