Frequently Asked Questions
-
What type of training is
available for RestaurantPlus Software?
Coming soon! We will soon
provide online web-based software training to
our end-users who wish to participate in low-cost
web training classes. As one
of our trainers conducts the training session, each attendee will be
able to see and hear the training in real-time, questions, etc. We feel this is the best way to deal with training
issues and cut down on travel costs, etc.
-
Can I use
RestaurantPlus
POS software without a
touch screen?
Yes. Our restaurant point of sale software is compatible with just a Mouse, Keyboard and
regular CRT Monitor.
-
Which
POS hardware printer do you suggest for printing guest checks?
We
recommend the Epson TM-T88IV Parallel Interfaced
thermal receipt printer. Epson printers are
fast and quiet, and are recommended for busy restaurant software environments. We
suggest the Parallel Interface models, which are easier to setup
and maintain. RestaurantPlus
POS software also support
s serial printers. (Currently our
software will ONLY work with Epson and/or "Epson
Emulation Mode" printers).
-
Which
POS hardware do you suggest for printing kitchen & POS
station checks?
For kitchen & POS station printing, we suggest you
use a Epson TM-U220B impact printer
with Ethernet Interface (connects directly to a
Ethernet cable), or use a
Epson TM-U220B impact printer
with
USB interface if you want to connect to a
wireless network. You can also use other Epson TM-series printers and
connect them by using a mini-print server
directly to a Ethernet cable.
We do not recommend using a serial or parallel cable connected
directly to a PC for a multi-user network.
-
Can I use
wireless or USB connectivity to POS hardware printers?
Our POS software will work with
wireless networking. Follow manufacture's guidelines.
Recommend using a Epson TM-U220B Impact Printer with USB Interface
connection. Be aware that wireless connections are problematic
in kitchen areas due to stainless steel, microwaves, etc.
-
What
cash drawer do you recommend using with
RestaurantPlus
POS software?
We
recommend using a printer driven cash drawer such as the Logic Control
CR3000 with an Epson Interface cable, since they are cheap
and easier to install. When ordering your printer driven cash drawer
from your local point of sale POS hardware Reseller, make sure you
order the cash drawer designed to open your specific printer model or
type. For example, if you have an Epson Printer, then you MUST specify
that the cash drawer manufacturer provide the proper interface cable
for the printer you will connect to. Otherwise, your cash drawer will
not open. Some popular cash drawer brands are Logic Controls, MS Cash
Drawer, Cash Drawer and others.
-
What
customer pole display do you suggest?
We recommend using
a customer pole display
such as the Logic Controls PD3000 with 20 x 2 LCD
screen.
-
Which all-In-One touch
system do you recommend?
Any all-in-one
POS terminal will work.
-
What
is the recommended POS hardware configuration?
We recommend that
each POS hardware computer have a minimum 512MB RAM,
1.0GHz or higher CPU,
have 1 parallel port, 2-3
serial ports, 1-2 PS/2 ports,
4 USB ports and minimum 4 GB hard drive
or storage card.
We do not recommend installing a CD-ROM for
security reasons. (Use an external USB CD-ROM). NOTE: data is
normally stored on a shared "file server"
See System Requirements for more details.
-
Which
operating systems does RestaurantPlus
POS software support?
RestaurantPlus POS
software runs under Windows XP and Vista. For multi-user networks,
we recommend using Windows XP
PRO on all POS stations. For the file
server we recommend Windows XP PRO or Windows
Server 2003.
-
Is
a dedicated file server required to run RestaurantPlus
point of
sale software?
If you are running one or two POS stations you can
install your database on one of your POS stations. However, for
installations of three or more computers we recommend that you use a
dedicated computer (a back office file server) to host the
shared database.
-
Can
I process an order created on another POS station?
Yes.
In a network environment, all POS computers link to
a "shared" database file located on one of the computers, called
the file server. This provides the ability to recall, settle, or
initiate tasks from any
POS station. (Some restrictions may apply based on
local PC setup settings).
-
Can
I add or change Back Office data while running POS
software?
Yes. RestaurantPlus restaurant software permits you to add or change menu items,
employee info in the Back Office, etc. and your
POS stations will automatically reflect the changes when a server starts a new
order.
-
Does
RestaurantPlus POS software interface with any Hotel/Motel or accounting Systems?
RestaurantPlus
restaurant POS software currently does not provide an interface to any
Hotel/Motel or third-party accounting Systems. However,
our restaurant software does allow you to export G/L account transactions into an
Excel spreadsheet at month-end, which can be "imported" into
QuickBooks, PeachTree, etc.
